Paco de Lucia.

Paco de Lucia has taught me how to express clarity of musical thought. His musical words project and impact the audience. I always thought that this was achieved by breaking down the materialistic view of guitar music, into good technique, timing and excellent vocabulary to speak with.

But this is not enough to portray feelings. You need something else that is the object of those feelings, the audience; your audience, those who you play for. They can be for real or imaginary. Paco de Lucia wants the audience to listen to him , he wants those in the far back to feel, he projects his feelings in order to make the audience vibrate with the expresión that flows with flamenco.

Flamenco is a reality in nature. It makes me feel as saying" I exist and please do not make me feel otherwise" . It reflects also pure deep thoughts of existence, a slap in the face a kiss on the cheek , a hug.

Pat Metheny

One of my favourite guitarists since I started playing. Pat Metheny represents new forms of horizontal expression. Paco de Lucia is a vertical slap while Pat Metheny is a constant horizontal flow of feelings.

When I think of Pat I think of sweetness, never ending new harmonies and sounds. Constant innovation.

Paco de Lucia is power, Pat metheny means richness of vocabulary, an encyclopaedia of mature harmonic knowledge and improvisation . His notes always feel right at the right moment . His audience, those who he plays for,imaginary or real, evoke sweetness and glory.

Pat Metheny is a source for innovation and refreshment of new ideas.
